Our new residents for H & I block have started to move in over the Christmas holiday period, some December, some January. We still have 4 houses to sell at this stage, and then very quickly we are down to 2 and now only one remaining.
Decking, paving and the rotunda are now completed on the Common House and we have completed all the paths as well. We are really enjoying this lovely new outside space.
The new paving is looking fantastic and now we can turn our attention to the village green and start working bees which will be every other weekend to cement rocks on the path side of the swales and then as winter is approaching we will start to plant them. The neighbourhood is beginning to look really settled and lush and it is lovely to know that we a doing something that is a finishing touch.
Working bees have been continual all winter, and there are lovely mini "weirs" in the swales so that the plants and topsoil do not get all washed down into the pond. It is actually looking rather beautiful when they are full of water and we now seem to be turning into a "duck sanctuary" for the local mallards.
We still have one home left to sell so in order to keep the "cash flow" working we have decided to rent it out in the meantime. The last of footpaths have now been laid up to H & I and out to carparks, where the driveway will come to meet them. We are really looking very settled now and the gardens are all taking shape.
We have finally cleared the "front of site" and the old soil/clay mix "mountain" has been trucked off site, leaving a clear flat piece of land not exactly as it used to be because the original fruit trees sadly are now gone. We will be able to use this to park our cars on as the driveway gets done, which is our next big job. How wonderful it will be to have this final job done. We plan to have a big celebration/open day once the driveway is complete.
